Ouarzazate will host the 14th National Festival of Ahwach Arts from October 22 to 24, according to Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and reporting carried by 2M with the state news agency MAP.
The 2026 edition is themed “Ahwach Arts and World Rhythms” and is expected to bring together nearly 1,000 artists representing different forms of Ahwach. The festival is being led by the ministry’s Culture Department and the provincial authorities in Ouarzazate, with Ouarzazate Events and regional and local partners supporting the program.
Organizers say the three-day program will include performances, seminars, training workshops and master classes. They describe Ahwach as a major expression of Amazigh culture and a component of Morocco’s intangible cultural heritage, combining collective rhythm, dance, singing, poetry, traditional dress and bodily expression.
The event is also scheduled to honour figures associated with preserving and promoting Ahwach in different regions of Morocco. Activities are expected at sites including the historic Taourirt Kasbah, Place Al Mouahidine and the city’s tourist area.
