Agadir Officially Adds Tifinagh to Street Signs and Billboards

Agadir – Tifinagh, one of the oldest traditional writing system in the world used to write the Amazigh languages spoken in North Africa is continuing to expand.

The decision comes in response of a massive reactions by the Amazigh movement who have been combating for decades language discrimination, in a city mainly inhabited by the indigenous Amazigh population.

This project is aiming to revitalize Tifinagh script and changes will also include cities/towns names, and tourism destinations, including historic and natural sites in Agadir and surrounding areas in future.
