Amazigh actor and film maker Ahmed Badouj, who had been hospitalized for few weeks after contracting the Coronavirus. has died Saturday in Agadir. He was 70.

Born in 1950 in Mesguina in the village of Ifrkhs, Ahmed Badouj was a prominent actor, director, screenwriter and tyhe master of the Amazigh theater. Ahmed began his career in theater (in Arabic) in 1978, then he joined the first Amazigh theater company “Tifawin” (lights) founded in 1985 by Lahoucine Bouizgaren.
Ahmed Badouj wrote several screenplays including the most famous “Tagodi” (The grief), one of the first plays performed by the Tifawin troupe in the 1980s, the same peace will be adapted in 1995 on a video by Ahmed Badouj.
In 1992, Ahmed Badouj played the role of Idder in Lahoucine Bouizgaren’s first Amazigh film “Tamghart N’ourgh” (The Woman in Gold).
In partnership with other Amazigh filmmakers, Ahmed co-directed several films, including “Asnnane n Tayri” starring Zahia Zahiri in which he also held a role of , “Argaz igan Argaz”, a comedy with Abderhmane Ait Elhafed (Agzoum), then another film titled “Arfoufen” a production of Mzouda Vision with Mohamed Benhammou.

With Warda Vision, a production company of Larbi Altit, Ahmed directed “Tiyiti N’wadan”, a two parts drama, starring Ahmed Nassih and Abdellatif Atif.
More recently, Mr. Badouj appeared on a television series “Tigmi Mkourn”, Sitcom directed by Abdelaziz Oussaih and produced by Warda Production.
