The human rights watchdog, Amnesty international, has published a brief tweet on June 24, to condemn the Algerian authorities for jailing Amazigh activists over waving Amazigh flags during the last Friday’s demonstrations that took place in Algiers, capital of Algeria.

“Peaceful protesters should not be imprisoned for expressing their opinions. We call on the Algerian authorities for the immediate release of protesters charged with “undermining national unity” after they waved the Amazigh flag at last Friday’s demonstration in Algiers.”
