An archaeological site dating back to prehistoric times was recently discovered in the village of Markoun in the south-east of the province of Boumerdes of northern Algeria in the Kabylie region.
According to the Algerian Ministry of Culture, the newly laid-out site features cave engravings and stone drawings, as well as inscriptions that are very similar to those of the Ahaggar and Tassili sites in southern Algeria.Â
A complete file has been drawn up for this new discovery and sent to the Ministry of Culture to work on its official inclusion in the World Heritage Site list. [ads1]
