Kabyle national team

Tizi Ouzou, March 11, 2018

While the best teams in the world will be heading to Russia in June to compete in the FIFA World Cup, Kabyle national team will instead be travelling to London to compete in the Conifa World Cup in London for the first time .

While the CONIFA takes charge of the fees during the competition, visa fees, transportation costs as well as training sessions are at the responsibility of each team, thus Kabylia’s team would need 50,000 € -$61000- to be able to participate in the competition. Aksel Bellabbaci, the President of the Kabylia Federation of Football, announced on 27 February 2018 that they have launched a crowdfunding campaign for the football team to be able to go to London. For those not aware, The Confederation of Independent Football Associations, or CONIFA, is a non-profit that are not recognized by FIFA. Its members include states, partially-recognised states, regions, minority groups and sports-isolated territories. CONIFA is strictly politically neutral, and is run by volunteers. The 2018 World Football Cup will bring together a diverse collection of CONIFA members from around the world. Participation was determined based on qualification games/tournaments, regional qualification spots and two wild cards.
