Members of the support committee of Rif movement in US and supporters gathered on Saturday, April 28, outside Harvard univeristy in Cambridge, to show support with all the detainees in connection with the Rif and Jerada protests in Morocco and to denounce the illegal arrest, arbitrary detentions and all type of repression in Rif region as well as other part of Morocco.
Shortly after the rally ended, the Amazigh activist members released the following statement;
In response to the intransigence of the Moroccan authorities, their failure to knowledge the legitimacy of the demands of the Rif Movement in Morocco’s neglected Rif region, their rejection of any dialogue with the movement lunching a wave of unprecedented crackdown, and carrying out mass arrests and detentions of more than 200 protesters, activists and bloggers in the Rif including Nasser Zafzafi, the leader of the protest movement.
The Support Committee of Rif Movement in United States People movement and supporters will be holding a rally for Rif & Jerada on Saturday, April 28th, from 12pm to 3pm outside Havard university in Cambridge, Massachusetts to denounce the illegal arrest, arbitrary detentions and the repression in Rif region as well as in the other part of Morocco such as Jerada.
Based on the above, we at the support committee of Rif movement in United states declare the following:
• We condemn the indiscriminate arrests & detention of the movement Leaders and demand their immediate and unconditional release.
• We denounce the policy of repression, bullying, intimidation and detention of the grassroots activists.
• We condemn all forms of restrictions on the right to protest and freedom of expression.
• We hold the Moroccan state responsible of what happens and of any further deterioration of the situation in the region.
• We support all the legitimate demands of the Rif people Movement and urge an immediate response to it.
The support committee of Rif movement in United states will continue it’s campaign to inform the Human rights NGO’s, American & worldwide media, political institutions, governments and general public to expose the Moroccan state repression in Rif region.
