Ghardaïa – Algerian authorities have arrested– once again — on Saturday, March 30th, the internationally recognized Amazigh/Mzab’s rights activist Dr. Kamel Fekhar near his work in Ghardaia.
Dr. Fekhar was released from jail in 2015 after spending 2 years in prison over condemning the Algerian government for thier crimes against humanity by Sunni Arabs against the Amazigh, ethnic minority in the Mzab region.
Fekhar has since 2013 called for autonomy of the Mzab, a northern Sahara region, and has condemned the government for what he called complicity in crimes against humanity by Sunni Arabs against the Amazigh, or Berber, ethnic minority in the region.[ads1]
