We’ve finally gotten the first look at all 9 Miss Amazigh contestants, and now the debate begins. Who will take home the crown on Friday, January 15, inside the International University of Agadir.
The 9 contestants are a diverse group: from blondes to darker skin, from workers to students, and nurses to actresses, representing cities such as Tiznit, Ouarzazat, Zagoura, Essaouira, Khiouribga, Agadir and Chtouka Aït Baha. There can only be one winner, however, and they’ll be taking home a new crown, which will be unveiled Friday.
Miss Amazigh is for women between the age of 18-28, with a high school diploma and who is fluent in Tamazight.Competition is based on natural beauty, local traditional Amazigh dress and jewelry, as well as level of education knowledge.
According to Mr Moha Belbeida from organizing committee , both Jury and audience will have the possibility to vote for their favourite contestants, and Attendees will have a chance to attend special celebrations to celebrate the upcoming Amazigh New Year “Yennayer 2966” including live Amazigh music and “Taguella” tasting. Note also that all money collected will go directly to help families in rural communities across Souss region.
