A man in his fifties has been found tragically ‘frozen to death on Monday morning  inside his cottage in a remote village near M’rirt which has experienced very low temperatures and heavy snowfall in the last couple of weeks according to local online news site.

M’rirt lies at an altitude of 826 meters in the heart of Middle Atlas mountains, Morocco around 30 kilometers (18 miles) out North of Khenifra.

Every winter, the remote mountainous region around Atlas Mountains —mainly inhabited by Amazigh/Berber people—suffers from a crippling lack of infrastructure, when winter roads become impassable forcing local residents to transport basic supplies by mule for long distances along icy roads.
