Rabat (AWN) | Ahmed EL Hlimi Al Alami, chairman of Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HPC), announced yesterday that 89,8 % of Moroccans speak Darija, 96% of which live in cities and 80,2 % in the countryside.
The report revealed also that only 27% of Moroccans Speak Tamazight of which 14% speak Tachlhit, 7,6% Tamazight and 4,1% Tarifit.
The statistics indicates that Tamazight is less actively spoken in urban areas ( 20.1 %) compared with rural areas ( 36.6 % ) across the nation.
