Festival Tamazgha is preparing to return to Marseille for its 21st edition, extending one of France’s long-running Amazigh cultural rendezvous into another season of music, memory and transmission.
The Marseille 15/16 district mairie lists the festival from November 4 to 7, 2026, with several events in the city’s northern districts before a closing evening at the Cite de la Musique. The festival is produced by Sud Culture, an association that has worked since 2006 to promote North African, and especially Amazigh, musical and cultural heritage.
The program includes a musical practice workshop, a concert and conference evening around the work of Cherif Kheddam, and a closing concert bringing together Mohsen Ferrah and Hamid Matoub. Sud Culture’s own listings also mention Amar Amarni and the troupe Taylut among the edition’s highlights.
For Marseille’s Amazigh and North African communities, the festival occupies a space between cultural preservation and contemporary creation. Its programming brings together professional and amateur musicians, different generations and several Amazigh linguistic worlds, including Kabyle and Chaoui repertoires.
The Cherif Kheddam evening is particularly notable. Kheddam remains one of the central figures of modern Kabyle song, and a conference by Said Sadi frames his work through both artistic freedom and the transmission of Amazigh identity.
By placing workshops, talks and concerts across community and cultural venues, the 2026 edition continues Festival Tamazgha’s role as a diaspora platform rather than a single concert event.
