Abbas Ibn Firnas (810–887 A.D.), also known as Abbas Abu Al-Qasim Ibn Firnas Ibn Wirdas al-Takurini was a Muslim Amazigh (Berber)-Andalusian polymath: an inventor, engineer, aviator, physician, poet, and Andalusian musician. of Amazigh (Berber) descent, he was born in Izn-Rand Onda, Al-Andalus (today’s Ronda, Spain), and lived in the Emirate of Córdoba. As of the 9th century ad. he conducted numerous experiements with different modes of flying.
Ibn Firnas is so influential in the world of aviation that NASA named one of the major moon craters, as the Ibn Firnas crater.
