Amazigh Language Spotlighted on New Google Earth Platform

New York – In an effort to both preserve and raise awareness about Indigenous languages, Google Earth has launched a new interactive platform on its Voyager feature as part of the massive Google Earth redesign. 

The new project, titled Celebrating Indigenous Languages, is designed to honour the United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages, it will lets users to listen to audio recordings such as simple words, phrases and traditional songs, by more than 50 Indigenous language speakers from across the globe.

“we’re fighting everyday to keep our language and culture alive and we want to pass it on to our kids,” says Sana Abidar.

Amazigh language was also showcased in the project, presented by Sana Abidar, Amazigh American activist and community member, who was one of several dozen Indigenous language speakers, advocates and educators who helped create the tour.
