The Amazigh Supreme Council in Libya has urged firm guarantees of representation in any upcoming political settlement, warning against the continued marginalization of the country’s indigenous population.
In a statement, the council demanded that Amazigh representatives hold no less than 10 percent of seats in both executive and legislative bodies, along with a dedicated electoral district in the proposed Senate.
The council also emphasized the need for constitutional safeguards protecting identity, diversity, and human rights, arguing that such measures are essential for national unity and lasting peace.
The appeal comes amid ongoing UN-led efforts to mediate a political solution in Libya, where Amazigh communities have long sought recognition and inclusion in state institutions.
