Magnitude-6.0 earthquake strikes near Bejaia

At around 01:04am on March 18, a very shallow magnitude 6.0 earthquake was reported late at night in Northern Algeria, only 21km away from Bejaia city.

There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake; however, it could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments.

Meanwhile, officials may temporarily shut down the transportation and all governmental institutions to better assess the damages.
