Marrakech is an Amazigh Word, Says President of the UN General Assembly

The term Marrakech is derived from Amazigh words ‘ amur n akush ‘ which means the land of god, therefore, the word “Morocco” is also believed to be derived from the same word, says María Fernanda Espinosa Garces, President of the UN General Assembly during her opening statement at the 1st Plenary meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in Marrakech, Morocco, 10-11 December 2018.
