Tripoli – For the second year in a row, Libya has ranked 11th in the 2019 Peoples under Threat . based on latest data from the London-based NGO Minority Rights Group International.
The Libyan communities that are at high risk include, but are not limited to, Amazigh community, Black Libyans, Sub-Saharan migrants and Tebu, all are are still fighting over territory and resources.
The report —as detailed below— stated that, Khalifa Haftar, current Libya’s strongest warlord, is the main cause behind the escalation of danger.
“Haftar’s all-out push for military victory raises the stakes for all parties and risks skyrocketing casualties and other human rights abuses that have long been perpetrated by armed groups with impunity.”
The analysis, known as the Peoples under Threat index, seeks to identify those countries around the world that are most at risk of genocide, mass killing or systematic violent repression.
