Tiznit is set to host the second edition of the Tamdiazt Poetry Tent Caravan, a cultural program that places Amazigh and Moroccan poetic expression in the public square.
The caravan is organized by the Association of Amrir Ambassadors for Culture and Creativity under the theme “Journey of the Poem.” It is scheduled from June 18 to 21, 2026, with support from Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Tiznit provincial council, and the city council.
The event will bring together poets, writers, artists, and cultural actors from Tiznit, Anzi, Chtouka Ait Baha, Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Casablanca, and other areas. Its program includes poetry evenings, literary and artistic meetings, creative testimonies, musical and heritage segments, and moments devoted to presenting the cultural assets of participating regions.
This year’s edition carries a memorial dimension through a tribute to the late poet Nuzha Abakrim, whose literary work is being recognized as part of Tiznit’s broader cultural memory. The tribute gives the program a personal and historical weight, turning the caravan into both a celebration of living voices and an act of remembrance.
For Amazigh cultural life, initiatives like Tamdiazt matter because they keep oral and written poetic traditions visible outside academic or festival-only settings. By moving between literary, musical, and community formats, the caravan treats poetry as a living social practice rather than a narrow genre.
