US and Morocco Give Green Lights to Collective Rights to Lands

Rabat – The US Embassy in Morocco, in partnership with the government of Morocco, today announced the official launch of the Melkisation program of collective lands.

The Melkisation process will provide farmers and their families in rural Morocco with the rights to the land that they have been farming for generations and hope that is going to tackle overgrazing issue and the Indigenous Amazigh land rights.

The program is expected to treat more than 67,000 hectares of collective land for the benefit of 31,000 beneficiaries, the entire project is part of our $1 billion Compact with Morocco through the U.S. foreign assistance agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation – MCC.
