TANGIER — Morocco has graduated its first cohort of translators specializing in written translation to and from the Amazigh language, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to implement the official status of Tamazight.
The graduates were honored during the 38th commencement ceremony of the King Fahd Higher School of Translation, part of Abdelmalek Essaadi University, for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The new graduates completed the country’s first Arabic–Amazigh–French written translation program, designed to prepare professionals capable of working across government institutions, the judiciary, education, media, and cultural sectors, where demand for Amazigh-language services continues to grow.
School Director Mohamed Kharchich described the program as an important step in advancing the practical implementation of Amazigh’s constitutional status, adding that the institution plans to introduce a simultaneous interpretation track in the same Arabic–Amazigh–French language combination.
The graduation comes as Morocco continues expanding the use of Amazigh in public life, with the emergence of a new generation of professionally trained translators expected to support its integration into public administration and essential services.
