A new book by writer and journalist Saïd Baji revisits the life, political thought and activism of Ahmed Dghirni, a lawyer and prominent figure in Morocco’s Amazigh movement.

Published by Dar Al-Qalam, Ahmed Dghirni: Path, Thought and Struggle — A Reading of the Amazigh Alternative considers Dghirni’s ideas, positions and intellectual formation, Amazigh World reported.

The book places Dghirni’s work within debates about Amazigh identity, its relationship with society and the state, and the political and intellectual questions that have shaped the movement. Rather than presenting a simple biographical record, the report describes the project as an effort to analyse and reassess that legacy in its historical, political and cultural contexts.

Dghirni remains an important reference point in discussions of Amazigh political organisation and rights in Morocco. The new study arrives shortly after a Tiznit commemoration of the sixth anniversary of his death, where the book was also due to be signed.

For readers and younger activists, the publication adds a recent contribution to the documentary and critical literature surrounding a major Amazigh political voice.
