Agadir’s Isni n Ourgh International Amazigh Film Festival has opened the submission period for the National Amazigh Culture Prize in the Amazigh film category, giving filmmakers a new deadline before the festival’s 17th edition in October 2026.
The call, announced by the festival association in partnership with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, covers fiction and documentary films, both feature-length and short, produced in 2025. Organizers say candidates must submit administrative documents, a synopsis, visual materials, physical copies, and a viewing link before the August 5 deadline.
The prize is tied to the annual commemoration of the 2001 Ajdir speech, a landmark moment in Morocco’s official recognition of Amazigh language and culture. For Amazigh filmmakers, the announcement comes as the sector continues to seek stronger production support, more professional circuits, and wider distribution beyond festival screenings.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for October 1 to 5 in Agadir under the banner of making the city a capital of Amazigh culture. Its continued partnership with IRCAM, local authorities, and national cinema institutions keeps the festival positioned as one of Morocco’s most visible platforms for Amazigh-language film.
